I found this saying all sorts of things that rang bells for me. I liked how the author ends by printing a friendly-critical response and replying to it. I think that the thesis that ‘sin’ is too emaciated an idea in pop culture to be a starting place in cultural evangelism today. I even think that the idea of shame may be helpful. However, at the end of the day, I wasn’t sure that I really felt that this was offering a telling of the gospel that would really grab a lot of global-north-westerners.
However, I do think that the insights about the functioning of the pomo psyche are useful for those of us engaged in more pastoral roles.
