Infinitely satisfying upon the first viewing… I was half expecting something more cringeworthy, but there’s scarcely anything cheezy about this film. True to the spirit of Lovecraft, the only major drawback apart from the oddly anachronistic nature of the vignettes is the simple fact that Lovecraft wove a rich tapestry of tales around the Necronomicon, none of which were included or even alluded to.
